New Canaan Man Facing Assault Charge In Domestic Dispute NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A New Canaan man is facing charges in connection with a Tuesday domestic assault, police said. Frank C. Mercede, 55, of 866 Smith Ridge Road, was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct in the incident, police said. Police said they were contacted on Wednesday about a dispute that had occurred the day before.  Mercede surrendered to police Tuesday morning after learning that police had a warrant for his arrest.
