Woman Defrauded United Illuminating Of $4,823, Stratford Police Say STRATFORD, Conn. — A Stratford woman used multiple fake IDs and Social Security numbers in a scheme that defrauded United Illuminating Co. of $4,823, Stratford Police said. Kimberly Lawton, 43, was arrested by warrant Feb. 27 after an investigation that began in October, police said.  She used the fake IDs and Social Security numbers to obtain services from the electric utility but didn't pay for them, police said. She was charged with third-degree larceny, third-degree identity theft and criminal impersonation. Her first court date was Wednesday in Bridgeport.

Police: Man Snatches Purse From Woman Walking Toward Stamford Train Station STAMFORD, Conn. -- A man slipped up behind a 35-year-old woman, pushed her and grabbed her purse in a robbery Monday afternoon, Stamford Police said. The woman was walking on Dock Street in the direction of the train station at about 2:30 p.m. when she was robbed, police said.  The suspect, described as a black man of medium height and build with a scraggly beard, fled the scene, police said.  Officers walked the route the suspect took and recovered the woman's purse, but it was missing her watch, credit cards, cash and phone, police said.
