NJ State Trooper Who Died During Training Leaves Behind Wife, Daughter (Service Details) Arrangements have been finalized for New Jersey State Police Trooper II Marcellus E. Bethea, who died during training last week. Bethea, 33, had been training to join the TEAMS Unit, an emergency response unit "prepared to handle extra ordinary police emergencies," the NJSP website says. He died on Sunday, May 5. Gov. Phil Murphy said he died at headquarters in Ewing. It was not immediately clear how. Women Who Tried To Interfere With Man's Arrest In Disarming Philly Officer Sought By Police Police have arrested the man who they say assaulted and robbed an off-duty officer of his gun. The officer was at 2100 West Oxford Street when he was approached by the man around 7:10 a.m., police said. "During the incident, the officer managed to disarm his offender and fire the attacker's weapon in self-defense," police said. "The offender then fled the scene in a black BMW sedan, which was lost in the vicinity of 9th and Cumberland Streets." The BMW struck the officer as it fled, police said. DUI Driver Rips Utility Pole From Ground, Overturns Car In Stafford, Police Say A DUI driver miraculously escaped injury after knocking down a utility pole in Stafford last week, authorities said. Juan Hernandez Rodriguez, 41, of Dumfries, was found inside of his overturned vehicle at Telegraph Road and Barnwell Drive following the crash just after 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said. Montclair Shooting Leaves Two People Wounded, Police Say Two people were wounded in what police believe was been a drive-by shooting in Montclair on Friday, May 10. Police were called to Mission Street and Bloomfield Avenue around 5:50 p.m. where they found a 43-year-old man from East Orange and a 32-year-old man from Montclair, both suffering from gunshots in their hips and legs. 22-Year-Old Sterling Man Killed In Georgetown Pike Crash Was Speeding, Cops Say Police in Fairfax County have identified the 22-year-old driver killed in a crash on Georgetown Pike this week. Osman Elgamri, of Sterling, was operating a 2017 Lexus IS300 when he left the roadway and struck a tree at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, county police said. One Dead In Route 27 Crash In Franklin Township (Update) One person was killed in a crash Thursday, May 9 in Franklin Township (Somerset County), authorities confirmed.
