Lawyer Disputes Charges Against Ridgefield School Bus Driver

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Former First Student bus driver Kathleen Sweikert’s lawyer says she had not been drinking and was only throwing away trash when she left an empty alcohol bottle at a Ridgefield school, reports The Ridgefield Press.

Former bus driver Kathleen Sweikert pleaded not guilty and is disputing charges against her of criminal attempted risk of injury to a minor. Sweikert was arrested on May 28 after leaving an empty alcohol bottle in a school bathroom.

As previously reported by The Daily Voice, Sweikert was arrested and charged with criminal attempted risk of injury to a minor May 28 after she left an empty 1.8-ounce alcohol bottle in a bathroom at Scotts Ridge Middle School after completing a bus run.

Ryan Henry of the Guendelsberger Law Offices says he and Sweikert have a pretrial conference scheduled for Aug. 15 to review the charges and hope to come to a resolution before trial, according to the report. He says she took and passed Breathalyzer after she was arrested, the Press reported.
