On Monday, June 5, there will be alternating one-way traffic between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. in anticipation of this weekend's detour closures, according to the state Department of Transportation. Between 8 p.m. on Friday, June 9 and 6 a.m. on Monday, June 12, the Route 7 bridge over the Norwalk River will be closed to facilitate construction activities. Traffic will be detoured via Route 35 and Route 102 for the duration of the closure.

This will be the first of five weekend closures where traffic will be detoured around the construction site using Route 35 and Route 102.

The bridge replacement project was awarded to New England Infrastructure, Inc. at a cost of $3,489,712 on March 3, 2016. The bridge was originally built in 1928 and is situated just north of the intersection of Route 102, and carries two lanes of traffic in both the north and south directions. Work is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 18, 2017, according to the state DOT.
