RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Ridgefield will welcome home Olympian Tucker West on Friday, Feb. 28, at the Community Center/Lounsbury House from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
West's fans are encouraged to wear their Team Tucker T-shirts and bring posters for him to sign.
West, 18, was the youngest competitor in the luge for the United States at the recent Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
He finished 22nd overall in the men's single luge and was the second fastest American with a total time of 3:31.217 in his four runs.
The Ridgefield teen also gained fame at the games after his father, Brett, gave an interview with the "Today" show and declared his son was "very single." They appeared together on the "Today" show a few days later to talk about the marriage proposals and prom invitations he had been receiving.
In an interview Tuesday with correspondent Jenna Bush Hager, Tucker said, "It's the nature of every parent to embarrass their child, and he took the cake on this one this year."
West also first learned to do the luge on a homemade track in his backyard that his father built when Tucker was only 6. Check out photos of it here .
