RIDGEFIELD, Conn. - State Rep. John Frey (R-Ridgefield) led a group of Veterans Park Elementary School students through a tour at the Legislative Office and Capitol Buildings on March 11.
In the House of Representatives Chamber, Frey quizzed the students on their knowledge of civics and the state legislative process. The students, in turn, asked many questions. The students were surprised to learn that Frey, who graduated from Ridgefield High in 1981, also attended Veterans Park Elementary School.
“It was great to see their enthusiasm. They were extremely knowledgeable about how laws are made. Their teachers did a great job preparing them for their visit,” said Frey.
The students also saw the Senate chamber and viewed displays in the concourse, which runs between the two buildings.
Frey, currently serving his ninth term as a state legislator, told the students to keep up their hard work, and to come back and visit soon.
Veterans Park Elementary School is one of six K-5 elementary schools in the Ridgefield school system.
