The Connecticut Awards, to be held at the Palace Theater in Waterbury on June 4, recognizes outstanding achievement by students, volunteers and educators in the areas of performance, direction, choreography, technical production and overall excellence for participating high school musical theater productions throughout Connecticut.
Ridgefield High School is one of the schools nominated for "Outstanding Production of the Year." Lead actors Sam Gravitte, Tara Mazur and Allie Short have been nominated for their roles, and they will be performing. The school was nominated for 14 awards at the Connecticut Awards.
Another 15 nominations came from the Halo Awards which will be awarded May 28 also at the Palace Theater in Waterbury.
The Halos honor students for excellence in musical theater and drama for both performance and backstage work. All the honored schools will perform a song from their show this year. The Ridgefield High School ensemble will be performing “One Day More.”
Among the nominations are "Best Musical," "Best Orchestra" and both Sam Gravitte and Jacob Litt for "Best Performance by a Leading Actor" and Allie Short for "Best Performance by a Supporting Actress."
