The study also ranked Ridgefield in the Top 250 schools in the county, coming in at No. 250.

According to the report, U.S. News ranks schools based on student participation in Advanced Placement courses, the number of courses offered and the exam scores. More than 60 percent of the Ridgefield students take an AP course over their time at the school.

"We're excited and very proud," said Principal Stacey Gross. "I think it's a real testament of the hard work that our teachers, students and parents are doing."

But she said that rankings such as this aren't the only way that the school judges its success. "We look at the whole child," she said, which includes all the extracurricular activities from sports to music as well as classes that extend beyond AP coursework.
