The winning Powerball numbers on Feb/ 21 were 10, 14, 18, 34, 51, and the Powerball number was 26. Medrano’s first five “Quick Pick” ticket numbers were a perfect match, but he missed the Powerball number. In total, 6,804 winning Powerball tickets were sold statewide for that date with prizes ranging from $4 to $1,000,000. “I’m glad that [Medrano] won on a winning ticket purchased from my store. We’ve had a few $100,000, $50,000 and $40,000 winners, but $1,000,000 is our biggest win so far,” said Pritesch Patel, owner of Ed’s Cigar Box at 279 Main St. in Danbury.
“We are very happy for him and hope that he puts the money towards a good cause,” said Pritesch Patel, owner of Ed’s Cigar Box.
For selling Medrano his $1,000,000 prize winning ticket, Ed’s Cigar Box will receive a check from the Conn. Lottery for $2,500. Connecticut has been a very lucky Powerball state with a total number of 30 Powerball “Match 5” winning tickets sold since the new game began on January 15, 2012. Twenty-three of the Powerball prizes were worth $1,000,000 each and another 7 tickets were “Power Played” for the game’s $2,000,000 prize — that’s a grand total of $37,000,000 in prizes.
