Poll: Ridgefield To Consider Cell Tower For Old Stagecoach Road

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- A cell phone tower proposed for a site off Old Stagecoach Road in Ridgefield will be discussed Tuesday at a meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Ridgefield residents have been calling for improvements in cellphone service, which would require a new cell tower in the northern end of town.

The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Lower Level Meeting Room of the Town Hall Annex at 66 Prospect St.

The applicants seeking to build the tower are Homeland Towers and New Cingular Wireless. The plan must also be approved by the State Siting Council.

Ridgefield residents have long requested improvements in the town's cell service, especially in the northern and western areas.

If the tower were built, it would provide cellphone service in the town's north and west sides where service is poor. The outcry increased after nearly all of the town was left without power after Hurricane Sandy struck a year ago.
