Ridgefield Man Charged With Underage Drinking

DANBURY, Conn. - The Danbury police charged two drivers over the Labor Day weekend with driving under the influence -- one of whom was arrested after backing into a gas pump, police said.

Early Tuesday, officers stopped Michael Robinson, 20, of Ridgefield, after he was seen traveling on Padanaram Road without headlights. 

Officers detected the smell of alcohol when they spoke with him, police said. He was given and failed a field sobriety test, police said. 

Robinson was charged with driving under the age of 21 with a blood alcohol content of more than 0.02 percent, failure to illuminate headlights and possession of alcohol by a minor on a public street or highway. He was released on $500 bond and was given a court date of Sept. 12.

At 7:30 p.m. Monday, officers were called to the Food Bag on West Street for a car accident. 

Police report that Dayna Brown, 41 of Danbury, had backed her car into the gas pump. When officers spoke with her, they reported smelling alcohol on her, police said.

She also had glossy and bloodshot eyes, police said. Brown was given and failed field sobriety tests, police said. 

Brown was charged with driving while intoxicated and released on $500 bond. No court date was given.
