WILTON, Conn. - Sister Anne Scappini, CND (Mother St. Lucy Anne) died June 3. She was 90.
Sr. Scappini was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Waterbury, daughter of Luis and Lucy (Galli) Scappini. After graduating from Waterbury Catholic High, she entered the congregation of Notre Dame and later earned a Master's in Spanish and one in religious education. She used her education to teach high school students, adults and seminarians. She began her high school teaching at St. Jean Baptiste H. S. in NYC. She returned to Waterbury and taught at Waterbury Catholic High and later served at Notre Dame Academy. Sr. Scappini served the people of New Haven, the Bronx, Central Falls, R.I.. and the seminarians at Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell. She moved to Ridgefield, in 2002 and then to Andrus on Hudson in 2004. She served as president of the Resident Council and then as its secretary.
Sr. Scappini is survived by her CND community; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Mario and Mimo.
Calling hours are Friday, June 7 from 2:30 until 7 p.m. at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated there Saturday, June 8 at 10 a.m.
