RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Ann Bridgman-Pitman of Ridgefield died Oct. 29 at Filosa for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danbury. She was 84.

She was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Englewood, N.J., to Hugh and Janet Benner Bridgman. She attended New Jersey schools and Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. A longtime resident of Ridgefield, she was a founding member of Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue (ROAR).

Bridgman-Pitman was the first person from the general public to attend a meeting to support ROAR during its early years. She volunteered tirelessly to make sure cats and dogs were well cared for, her family said.

A water color artist, she was a founding member of the Ridgefield Guild of Artists. She was also responsible for public relations for the Silvermine Artist Guild for some time.

Bridgman-Pitman is survived by a sister, Page Kidder, of Yarmouth Port, Mass.

There is no formal funeral service. Kane Funeral Home in Ridgefield is handling arrangements.
