Tropical Storm Andrea Dumped More Than 3 Inches Of Rain On Ridgefield

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Weather forecasters said Tropical Storm Andrea would dump 2 to 4 inches of rain on Fairfield County from Friday into Saturday. And they were right.

Andrea was the first named storm of the not-yet-a-week-old Atlantic hurricane season. It hit Florida late Thursday and quickly swept up the East Coast. 

Skies were sunny Saturday, but not until after a deluge of heavy rain on Friday and overnight Saturday. 

Here are some of the unofficial rainfall totals as of 5 a.m. Saturday, for the previous 25 hours, as reported by the National Weather Service: 

  • Bridgeport: 4.60 inches 
  • Danbury Airport: 3.89 inches 
  • Norwalk: 3.62 inches 
  • Stamford: 3.34 inches
