RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — More than 100 roads across Ridgefield are closed many of them blocked off by downed trees and wires
"The highway department has been out working every situation with our wires," said First Selectman Rudy Marconi. 'Their is so much damage and so many wires down."
But the clean up would be going much faster he said if the four line crews that Connecticut Light & Power promised would be in town by noon had arrived, he said.
"If they just told us that the damage along the coast was so bad that they needed all the crews there, that would be OK," Marconi said, but the four local tree crews have been on standby since this morning.
Marconi said there has been zero communications from CLP, not even to to towns liaison, which is causing frustration to everyone involved. He said that when the towns go in front of the Public Utilities Regulatory Agency to testify after this storm, that they might finally listen, because, "It seems to have fallen on deaf ears."
Until the line crews come to Ridgefield, Marconi said that the tree crews and highway department will do what they can to clear roads with only trees down and he urges residents to be safe.
Ridgefield Police Captain Tom Comstock said that one way to keep safe is to pay attention to yellow danger tape and orange safety cones that the department has set up. "They are there for a reason, please don't move them," Comstock said.
