With services scheduled for Ridgefield Police Chief John Roche on Friday, there will be road closures and delays for the funeral procession as it travels through town.

Less than a week into his retirement following nearly four decades servicing the community, the former chief died last week. No cause of death has been released.

The Ridgefield Police Department issued an alert noting that the service for Roche will be held on Friday, Sept. 7 at St. Mary’s Church on Catoonah Street. Catoonah Street will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m. between the Post Office and High Ridge Avenue.

Following the service, the procession will travel south on High Ridge Avenue to King Lane, to Main Street, to Branchville Road, to East Ridge Road, with a stop in front of Ridgefield Police Headquarters. The procession will then head to Governor Street, to Main Street to North Salem Road to North Street before ending at St. Mary’s Cemetery. During the procession, motorists can expect delays in the area.
