RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — The town of Ridgefield will hold its annual Sept. 11 ceremony Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in front of the monument on the ?grounds of the Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Center, 195 Danbury Road.

Participants will include members of the Ridgefield Police Honor Guard and the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department Color Guard, who will process while Ridgefield native Tommy Weeks plays tenor saxophone.

First Selectman Rudy Marconi will welcome all and lead the pledge of allegiance, followed by Rabbi David L. Reiner of Temple Shearith Israel, who will give the Invocation. Members of the Ridgefield Chorale will participate under the direction of Daniela Sikora.

The Rev. Phyllis J. Leopold from the Association of Religious Communities will then offer a reflection.

Stamford Deputy Fire Marshal and Ridgefield resident Terrence Shay, will play "Amazing Grace" on his bagpipe.

The ceremony will conclude with an invitation for all to lay a flower on the monument and join all musicians in singing the national anthem. The benediction will be given by the Rev. Russell Augustine of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church.

This year marks the 13th year since the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, and the town has held this ceremony each year since that day.

Ridgefield lost two people with ties to the town in the terror attacks, Tyler Ugolyn and Joseph Heller. Their names are inscribed on marble benches surrounding the steel I-beam in the memorial that came from the wreckage at Ground Zero.
