RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield First Selectman Rudi Marconi has issued the following reminder to residents:
Town department heads, school officials, emergency management personnel and volunteers will join other towns across the state for the third annual Emergency Planning and Preparedness Initiative (EPPI) – a table-top drill that simulates response to large-scale, natural or man-made disasters.
This year, the media will be invited to observe the Emergency Operations Center in action at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday promptly. The PIO (Public Information Office) team will post clearly marked “DRILL” messages to social media outlets and hold a briefing and photo opportunity just as would happen in a real event.
Those attending should check in at the information desk at Yanity Gym to receive their passes.
Emergency Operations personnel are already in DRILL mode, preparing as much in advance as they could during a live event. “Our Emergency Operations Center will be fully activated with representatives from all our departments and teams,” said First Selectman Rudy Marconi. “These types of drills have helped us to improve our overall response and we take them very seriously. It’s also important for the community to know that this is a DRILL and that no real emergency is taking place.”
Yanity Gym is at 60 Prospect St.
