The Daily Voice is closing out 2017 by looking back at some of the most popular stories of the year. In July, it was discovered that a new manuscript by the late Maurice Sendak of Ridgefield will be released next year.

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- A new book by late Ridgefield author Maurice Sendak has been discovered and is set to be published next year, according to Publisher's Weekly.

The manuscript for "Presto and Zesto in Limboland" was discovered last year by Maurice Sendak Foundation President Lynn Caponera while she was going through Sendak's files, Publisher's Weekly reported. The manuscript was co-authored by Sendak and frequent collaborator Arthur Yorinks, and also included completed illustrations by Sendak, according to Publisher's Weekly.

Sendak, who is most famous for his beloved children's book "Where The Wild Things Are," lived in Ridgefield for many years until his death in 2012. The Maurice Sendak Foundation has sought to build a museum in his memory in town since his death.

Work began on "Presto and Zesto in Limboland" after Yorinks saw some illustrations that Sendak had created in 1990 to accompany a symphony performance, according to Publisher's Weekly. Yorinks and Sendak had worked together on "The Miami Giant" in 1995 and "Mommy?" in 2006, and collaborated to come up with a story to accompany the illustrations.

After the manuscript was discovered, Yorinks happily agreed to allow it to be published, according to Publisher's Weekly. "Presto and Zesto in Limboland" is set to be published by Michael di Capua Books/HarperCollins in the fall of 2018, according to Publisher's Weekly.
