Ridgefield Parks And Rec Offering Lifeguard Training

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- You can become a certified lifeguard or swim instructor in just five days through a program offered by the Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Department.

The department is offering a lifeguard training course (ages 15+) and a water safety instructor course (ages 16+). Both American Red Cross certification courses meet from Aug. 10-14.

Lifeguard classes are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and water safety instructor classes are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Both courses are at Barlow Mountain pool.

Participants for both programs must pass a pre-course skills test in order to be eligible to participate. Both pre-course skills tests are from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7 at the Recreation Center pool.
