RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Nigerian musician Femi Kuti will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, June 5 at the Ridgefield Playhouse.
Kuti, who has been nominated twice for a Grammy Award and has won multiple Billboard World Music Awards, is the oldest son of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.
He’s best known for his collaboration with American hip-hop artists, such as Mos Def, Common and Jaguar Wright, and he has toured with Jane’s Addiction and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Getting back to his Afrobeat roots is the central aim of Femi Kuti, who continues to evolve with his band, The Positive Force. Kuti, an Amnesty International ambassador, continues to expand the diversity of his artistry on his new album “No Place For My Dream.”
