Published over the weekend, Susan Hodara's article highlights the Aldrich's ongoing “Fifty Years” anniversary celebration and the seven exhibitions that make up the latest installment.
The Aldrich is highlighting seven artists who made the gallery what it is, ranging from modern artists such as Kate Gilmore to artists helped by museum founder Larry Aldrich including Mary Beth Edelson and Jackie Winsor.
Plus there are historical pieces by artists who played vital roles in the Aldrich’s beginning: Richard Artschwager, Eva Hesse, Ellsworth Kelly, Agnes Martin and Richard Serra.
Talking to Hodara, museum curator Amy Smith-Stewart explained the idea behind highlighting the Aldrich's history through the seven artists.
“We’re showing our audience that art doesn’t happen in a vacuum. There is always a dialogue with the past.”
The “Fifty Years” exhibit runs until Sunday, April 5, at the Aldrich, located at 258 Main Street in Ridgefield. Hours are noon to 5:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.
