Netflix, the Internet movie website, has a new show starting July 11 called "Orange is the New Black." It is based off the experiences Kerman wrote about in her book of the same title.
According to a Netflix statement, "Orange is the New Black" follows engaged Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling, whose relationship with drug-runner Alex, Laura Prepon, is over a decade-old and results in her arrest and 15-month-long detention in a federal penitentiary.
The series, which has yet to premiere, has been extended to a second season, Netflix said.
