We’ve all heard the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” In the case of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony it takes a large orchestra and a veritable “village” of singers- four soloists and a large chorus- to perform this great masterpiece!
Joining the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, May 16th, 8:00 pm, at Ridgefield High School’s Anne S. Richardson Auditorium, are close to 80 soloists and chorus members in celebration of the RSO’s 50th Anniversary!
The finale of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the justly famous “Ode to Joy,” uses voices in a symphony for the first time. In live performance, the combination of some of the greatest music ever written, stirring words extolling the brotherhood of man, and the sheer power of 150 musicians and singers onstage, yield one of the most powerful experiences imaginable.
Joining the RSO on May 16th are a quartet of internationally acclaimed soloists- Soprano Theresa Santiago, Mezzo-Soprano Melissa Parks, Tenor A.J. Glueckert, and Baritone Ron Loyd. The large chorus includes the Fairfield County Chorale, David Rosenmeyer, Director, and members of the New York Virtuoso Singers, Harold Rosenbaum, Director. And of course, our very own world-class Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra!
