Destination Ridgefield.com has been designed as a platform to promote everything that goes on in town, from businesses to cultural events, for both tourists and residents.

“Everyone knows Ridgefield is a beautiful New England town with lots to do,” said Marion Roth, executive director of the Ridgefield Chamber. “Destination Ridgefield.com makes it easy for people to find out the what, where and when.”

It won't just be listings, Roth added. The site will contain descriptions and details about the arts, shopping, dining, museums and galleries, parks, events and activities as well as going into the history of the town.

The site is designed to appeal to “in-town tourists” as well, said Nancy O’Connell, owner of nancy O and the chamber's chairman. "It’s even hard for locals to be aware of all this amazing town has to offer. DestinationRidgefield.com is the one-stop shop for answering the question, ‘What should we do today?’”

The site launch is the result of a half-decade effort to “rebrand” the town and attract more tourists. It began with focus groups that gathered merchants, residents and officials to talk about Ridgefield’s appeal.

“This was a volunteer effort and a real labor of love,” said Roth. “Destination Ridgefield is a showcase for the enormous pride we have in our town.”

The top priority is to spread the word about the site. “If we can get people to the DestinationRidgefield.com, we’ll get them to Ridgefield. What other small New England town has a symphony, a famous art museum, a playhouse and a picture-book main street?” said Debra Hayes, who now leads Destination Ridgefield.

Ridgefield businesses that wish to participate in DestinationRidgefield.com should contact sales@destinationridgefield.com. The Destination Ridgefield efforts are under the Ridgefield Chamber Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization.
