FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Look out Fairfield County, hazardous weather is on its way with severe thunderstorms expected by Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The unsettled weather on Tuesday will bring a snap of cold air along with the threat of strong, damaging winds, and heavy rain. There could be isolated flash flooding, particularly in low areas where poor drainage is a problem.

Tuesday’s skies will be cloudy, with slight chance of rain in the morning giving way to an afternoon of showers and thunderstorms that could produce gusty winds and small hail. The rain is expected to be heavy by the afternoon and temperatures will be in the 70s.

Showers are likely Tuesday night when thunderstorms will occur mainly after midnight. The evening’s thunderstorms may produce gusty wind small hail and heavy rainfall.

Wednesday will bring only a slight chance of showers and partly sunny skies, then showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon, with the mercury hitting the low 80s.

Showers and thunderstorms could come again Wednesday evening, then skies will become partly cloudy overnight, and the threat of rain becoming less.

Thursday’s expected to be sunny with seasonal warm temperatures in the low 80s.

Overnight will be clear, with much cooler air in the mid 60s.
