Cloudy Skies Give Way To Several Days Of Rain In Ridgefield

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Fairfield County residents can expect cloudy skies and cooler than normal temperatures during the day Wednesday, with showers hitting tonight that will last through Friday.

A warm front is approaching the region, but until it arrives, cool winds will keep temperatures below normal, according to the National Weather Service. The high Wednesday will be near 52, with south winds of 8 to 11 mph. 

It will be dry during the day, but the warm front expected to hit Wednesday evening will be followed by a weakening cold front late at night, bringing with it some rainfall. Showers are likely after midnight on Wednesday, when there is a 60 percent chance of precipitation. Otherwise the night will be cloudy, with a low around 46. A south wind of 8 to 13 mph will become a light southwest wind after midnight.

Thursday will see scattered showers before 2 p.m. The rest of the day will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. There will be a light and variable wind. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent. There is a chance of showers Thursday night, followed by showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. The low Thursday night will be around 48. New rainfall amounts will be between a tenth- and a quarter-inch, except for higher amounts possible during the thunderstorm.

Rain will continue into Friday, where showers are likely with a thunderstorm possible before 10 a.m. There will also be patchy fog before noon. There is a chance of showers between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., otherwise it will be cloudy and gradually become mostly sunny. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. The high will be near 64. Friday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 46.

The weekend will start out nice but gradually become rainy. Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Saturday night will see a 30 percent chance of light rain after 2 a.m., but will otherwise be mostly cloudy with a low around 43. Rain is likely on Sunday, mainly afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent and the high will be near 55. Sunday night will see a 40 percent chance of rain, but will mostly be cloudy with a low around 41.
