Tracey, who has been a co-captain of the school’s varsity soccer team and an FAA all-league player, said she is excited to move on to the next level in her athletic career. She said her time at Sacred Heart Greenwich encouraged her to participate in competitive athletics while completing demanding school work.

“At Sacred Heart, there’s this emphasis this on the student athlete,” said Tracey, who lives in Ridgefield. “You’re encouraged from middle school (on) to play sports.”

During her time at Sacred Heart Greenwich, Tracey was named to the 2014 Connecticut All-State Prep School Soccer Team. She was also named to the Boston Globe All-New England Prep School Athletic Council Soccer Class A All-Star team in 2014 and 2015.

Tracey’s performances "were integral to the success of the Sacred Heart team," which went 7-1 in the FAA during the regular 2014 season. The team went on to claim their first FAA Tournament Championship in 24 years.

Tracey found the back of the net twice, scoring the game winner with two minutes left in the second period of overtime.

Tracey said she began playing for Sacred Heart Greenwich in sixth grade. But her mother, Jeanne, said she has been developing her technique from an early age.

Athletic Director Kelly Stone said Tracey is unique in that she chose to play for her school at a time when many athletes play solely for club or travel teams.

“Tracey made a decision to represent her school and play for Sacred Heart,” Stone said. “As a result of her skills and her performance, she inspired not only the team on which she played but the younger kids as well.”

Stone said Tracey has served as a role model to younger students, who wanted to master the sport after seeing he play.

“The kids want to be able to do fun tricks that Tracey is able to do,” Stone said.

Stone said Tracey is the first student from the school to attend Davidson, “where she will no doubt continue her success that she started here.”

Head of School Pamela Hayes said she was proud of Tracey’s athletic abilities, which she worked to hone at the school.

“This is a passion of hers, and we’ve been able to develop that passion for her,” Hayes said. “Now this is a wonderful result of her hard work and dedication. We couldn’t be more proud of her.”
