Jennie Brian, Alexandria Salazar and Kaitlyn Kynast represented Ridgefield High School June 12-14 in Sarasota, Fla., at the U.S. Nationals Rowing Championships.

The nation’s premier youth rowing event pits roughly 1,500 athletes competing in more than 350 crews from 150 teams throughout the country in 18 boats classes. To make it to nationals, teams had to first qualify as a top boat at the Northeast Regionals held in Lowell, Mass.

Brian and Salazar earned the ninth-fastest time in the Women’s Lightweight Double class. Rowing for G Man Systems, the duo had placed first in the Finals C race. Up next for the tandem of rising seniors in August will be the Henley Invitational in Ontario, Canada.

Kynast finished fourth overall in the Women’s 4+ event. The rising junior, who rows for Norwalk’s Connecticut Boat Club, will compete in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this summer for the U.S. Junior National Team.
