Ridgefield Aquatic Club Swimmers Set Records At Regional Short Course

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield Aquatic Club swimmers recently brought back two records and lots of medals from the Region 1 Short Course Open Championships in Schenectady, N.Y.

They were up against more than 325 top swimmers from New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Marcie Maguire led the team by taking first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.46 seconds. She also placed first in both the 100 and 200 backstroke with times of 56.38 seconds and 1:59.47, breaking the 100 and 200 backstroke Adirondack records. She placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.27 seconds and third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.88.

Lindsey Gordon took second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.63. AJ Bornstein took second in the men’s 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:09.5. Brian Valedon had a monster swim, dropping 2 seconds from his seed time to take second in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:10.94.

Open tryouts for Ridgefield Aquatic Club programs are being held March 24 through March 27 from 4:30-5:30PM, or by appointment at the Barlow Mountain pool.
