The Brewster Bulldogs will drop the puck on its inaugural season on Nov. 7 at the team’s home ice at Brewster Ice Arena.

Co-owners Bruce Bennett, of Mahopac, and Edward Crowe  purchased the new team, as well as the new Danbury Titans, after a void was left when the Stateline Whalers backed out of the league due to territorial concerns, according to examinernews.com.

Rather than competing for fans, Bennett and Crowe see the Brewster-Danbury matchup driving business and becoming a regular cross-state rivalry. In fact, the two clubs square off against one another when the season opens on Nov. 7.

Brewster will have to scramble to ready itself prior to the start of the season, including securing sponsorships, creating a team logo and other details that go into the operation of a minor league hockey team.

The Danbury Titans will play out of Danbury Arena. The FHL consists of six teams from the Northeast and Midwest. More information on the league is available on the FHL website.
