Prabir Patra, director of biomedical engineering at the University of Bridgeport, and Manju Hingorani, a professor of molecular biology and biochemistry from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., are developing diagnostic technology using tiny sensors to detect Lynch syndrome as early as possible.
The work is funded by a $324,125 research grant to Wesleyan from the Connecticut Department of Public Health. The University of Bridgeport was sub-awarded $149,152.
Lynch syndrome increases the risk of colorectal, endometrial and other cancers.
