FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - Schools from Greenwich and Ridgefield joined 60 others from across the country and Canada in being honored by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association as Crown Award finalists.
Ridgefield's East Ridge Middle School and Greenwich Academy, were chosen from almost 1,200 entries for their school's magazines in the 2014-15 school year.
The awards will be presented to the schools in March at a ceremony in New York City.
The Crown Awards honor top student publications chosen from the association's members. Crowns are selected for overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison.
A total of 1,190 publications were eligible for judging. Finalists are not nominees but actual winners. Some will be announced as Gold Crowns; the rest are Silver Crowns.
