Ridgefield Students Heading Back To School Tuesday, Wednesday

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Summer vacation comes to an end this week for Ridgefield students as school starts back up again Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ridgefield High School freshmen will start school Tuesday, while upperclassmen will go back on Wednesday.

Students in kindergarten through ninth grade will have their first day of school Tuesday. Students in grades 10 through 12 will return to school for their first day on Wednesday.

Here are the school starting and ending times:

Ridgefield High: 7:25 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
East Ridge Middle School, Scotts Ridge Middle School: 8 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
Branchville, Ridgebury, Scotland Elementary Schools: 8:35 a.m. to 3:25 p.m.
Barlow Mountain, Farmingville, Veterans Park Elementary Schools: 9:10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Among the new faces in Ridgefield this year is Superintendent Karen Baldwin. Baldwin is the former superintendent of Suffield Public Schools, where she served since 2011. She also served as the superintendent of Watertown Public Schools from 2008 to 2011. Her appointment by the Ridgefield Board of Education was announced in November and she took over leadership of the district in July.
