Beck has acted as principal of Cos Cob Elementary School in Greenwich for the past five years. Prior to that she worked in Norwalk as an assistant principal, in Greenwich as a fifth grade teacher and in West Hartford as a fourth grade teacher.
Beck received her Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from Framingham State College and a Master’s of Science degree in Reading and Language Arts from Central Connecticut State University. She also received her certification in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport.
“I believe Ms. Kimberly Beck has the knowledge, leadership skills and experience necessary to be an excellent assistant superintendent and help Ridgefield successfully meet and exceed the challenges of the future. I believe she will both build on our strengths and move us forward,” Ridgefield Superintendent Deborah Low told the Board of Education Monday night. “I am riveted by the notion of being able to work alongside and learn from each of you,” Beck said. “I just look forward to the future.”
Beck will start her new position at the start of the New Year. She is replacing Pat Michaels, who has held the position since 2007. Michaels will be leaving the district to work with the Cooperative Educational Services in Trumbull working on curriculum.
