Students in kindergarten through ninth grade returned to school Tuesday, and sophomores, juniors and seniors will have their first day of school on Wednesday. It will be a full day, beginning at 7:25 a.m. and finishing at 2:15 p.m.
Principal Stacey Gross welcomed students back to school with a letter posted to the school's website, letting students and parents know about important information such as an Open House on Sept. 10 and Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 16 and 17. She also noted that the Class of 2016 will be the 100th Ridgefield High School graduating class.
Among the new faces in Ridgefield this year is Superintendent Karen Baldwin. Baldwin is the former superintendent of Suffield Public Schools, where she served since 2011. She also served as the superintendent of Watertown Public Schools from 2008 to 2011. Her appointment by the Ridgefield Board of Education was announced in November and she took over leadership of the district in July.
