RIDGEFIELD, Conn. Ridgefield High School was named the fifth best high school in the state in a recent ranking by Newsweek. In a list of the Top 1,000 schools in the country, Ridgefield came in 319th.
Newsweek listed the schools based on college matriculation rate, standardized test scores, graduate rate and the number of AP courses offered per student.
Ridgefield's graduation rate was 98 percent with a 92 percent college-bound rate. The average SAT score was 1730, the sixth highest in Connecticut. The average ACT score was 25.9, also the sixth highest in the state.
A survey by U.S News and World Report ranked Ridgefield as the third best high school in the state and 226th best in the nation. That ranking was based more on performance on state tests and AP classes as compared to the Newsweek ranking, which emphasized more on the graduation rates and percentage of college-bound students.
