RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- As part of their community helper unit, 3-year-olds at Ridgefield Academy were treated to a visit from the Ridgefield Fire Department on Wednesday, complete with a firetruck and EMS vehicle.
Four firefighters, who are also certified paramedics, discussed how they help the community, and how they even apply skills learned in preschool on the job.
Donning full uniforms, they showed the students that, even though they might look a bit frightening in their gas masks, firefighters are there to help in times of emergency.
In addition to interacting with them, children enjoyed having a chance to try some of the firefighters' equipment.
