Summer Sheldrick said on Facebook Meep was let out to use the bathroom at 12:15 a.m. on New Year's Day on Budd Street in Morristown, but she got spooked by fireworks, got loose and ran off.

Sheldrick said by the time she realized Meep was loose, she was already far gone. Now Sheldrick is offering a $6,000 reward for the safe return of Meep. Meep was last seen on Dorothy Drive in Morristown, Sheldrick said.

"We continued to search and search on foot for about a week and a half," Sheldrick said. "I stayed up for about 36 hours searching with no sleep. I was not giving up and I will never give up until she is home with me."

Sheldrick's post has struck a chord with fellow dog lovers and has been shared more than 3,600 times. A TikTok has also created to raise awareness about Meep.

Meep was adopted by Sheldrick when she was eight weeks old, rescued from a puppy mill. She suffered from pneumonia and had to have oxygen and use a nebulizer. Recently, Meep was diagnosed with a luxating patella and is awaiting surgery. Sheldrick said Meep is her soul dog.

"She's all I have," Sheldrick said. "[She] came to me when I needed her the most. She is everything to me, and I always used to say I don’t know what I would do without her, and now that I don’t have her I’m a mess. I wake up crying and I go to sleep crying. I miss her so much, and I’m praying for this nightmare to be over. She is not just a dog to me. She is my family."

Meep is microchipped and spayed, Sheldrick said. Anyone with information is asked to contact 201-400-4397.
