Deer jumps into Hudson at Exchange Place, swims to Governor’s Island

A wayward buck, deciding the wild was safer than downtown Jersey City, leaped into the Hudson and swam to Governor’s Island before police finally caught up and tranquilized him.

Calls began coming in at lunchtime of the wayward deer roaming around downtown before taking the plunge near Exchange Place, a police spokesman said. He wouldn’t say where authorities plan to take the deer.
