Laurence John Brue, 85, Pleasant Valley Resident

PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. -- Laurence John Brue, a 20-year resident of Pleasant Valley and a previous resident of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, Jan. 15. He was 85.

Born in Yonkers, Brue served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for Shatz Manufacturing Co. as a facility maintenance supervisor until his retirement. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 275 in Poughkeepsie and the Dutchess County Softball Hall of Fame.

Brue enjoyed hunting, golfing, motorcycles, T-Birds and Cadillacs, but softball most of all.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Rita Pataro; parents Paul Brue and Margaret McCarthy; and siblings William Brue, Jean Moorhead and Shirley Bennett.

A graveside service was held Thursday, Jan. 21, at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Poughkeepsie. Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home in Poughkeepsie assisted with arrangements.
