Arrest Made in 4-Year-Old Yorktown Break-In

YORKTOWN, N.Y. — A Peekskill man was arrested last week and charged with trying to break into a Yorktown auto body shop almost four years ago. Police used DNA evidence to connect the suspect to the crime.

On Aug.8, 2008, the owner of Adrian's Auto Body on Old Crompond Road reported an attempted break-in at his business. Detective Patsy Perrotto and Police Officer Robert Pavletich conducted an investigation and DNA evidence was recovered at the scene.

A DNA analysis recently returned to Yorktown police by Westchester County's lab identified Elicer Olmo, 32, of Washington Street, Peekskill, as the suspect. A followup investigation was conducted on April 19 at Peekskill Police Department, which resulted in the arrest of Olmo.

Olmo was charged with attempted burglary in the third degree, a Class E felony. He was processed at Yorktown police headquarters and released on $250 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on May 22.
