RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- The Ridgefield Board of Selectmen is seeking qualified candidates to serve on the Conservation Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, the Board of Ethics, the Prevention Council and the Historic District Commission.
Duties of the Conservation Commission include oversight of town open space, including trail maintenance, posting and protecting; advising Planning and Zoning and Inland Wetlands on the impact of development to the environment; increasing the town’s inventory of open space through acquisition and encouraging donations. Applicants must be able to meet every other Monday at 7:30 p.m. and attend occasional Friday morning site walks and Tuesday night Planning and Zoning meetings on a rotating basis.
Duties of the Parks and Recreation Commission include maintaining a comprehensive recreational program; oversight of all park properties including a system of regulations, permits and fees for recreational and park uses; and appointment and oversight of a full-time superintendent and such other staff as needed. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the Parks & Recreation Center.
Members of the Board of Ethics Commission are known for their integrity, honor and have a keen sense of justice. The Board of Ethics meets the second Wednesday of every third month at 7:30 p.m.
The Prevention Council works to inform and educate the community to prevent and reduce high-risk behaviors among the youth population. Meetings are held once a month on the third Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
The Historic District Commission is seeking someone who is passionate about historic preservation of the buildings in the Historic District of Ridgefield. The vacancy is for an alternate position. A person having skills in architecture would be a great asset to the commission. Meetings are held every third Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m.
