RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Before long the sounds of bats hitting balls might be heard if plans keep advancing for a new lighted ball field on Route 7 in Ridgefield, according to the Ridgefield Press.

Town selectmen voted last month to approve an extension on the lease of the site, which the town leases from the state for $1 a year and then re-leases to the Little League organization, said the Ridgefield Herald.

Ridgefield Little League officials will appear before the Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday, June 7, for a discussion of their plans for the construction of the field located at the intersection of Simpaug Turnpike and Route 7. The project had been delayed because a former lease with the state prevented lighting, but State Rep. John Frey was able to have the lease amended making way for the new field to progress, added the Ridgefield Herald.
