Allan Jones, 45, of Green Street, was charged with possession of a narcotic not in its original container, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, insufficient insurance and operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, police said.
He was also processed on two outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court, police said.
Officers were called to the Post Road West near Cross Street around 3 p.m. on a report of an unresponsive man in a red Geo Prism in the righthand eastbound lane.
Police said they found Jones passed out behind the wheel, clutching a cellophane cigarette wrapper containing white chunky powder Jones later told officers was crack cocaine.
Officers saw a plastic sandwich bag containing acetaminophen and hydrocodone pills in plain view on the driver’s seat, police said. They also found a cigarette pack with a crack pipe and a metal push rod used for cleaning and loading a crack pipe, police said.
Jones was held on $5,000 bond for the June 16 charges and $7,500 for the warrants. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 29 and 30.
