Trumbull Police Lt. Keith Golding announced the arrests of Fairfield resident Evan Corigiliano, 35 and his girlfriend, Trumbull resident Remi Cooper, 25, who were both apprehended during a traffic stop near Cooper’s home on Old Dike Road earlier this year.

According to police, during the initial stop, a police canine was alerted to the presence of drugs, and officers conducting the traffic stop recovered heroin and cocaine in the car. It was later determined that Cooper had an active warrant out for her arrest in Redding.

During a search of the vehicle, officers also confiscated “several distinctive pieces of jewelry that matched the description of items that had been stolen during a recent burglary.” When questioned, Corigiliano admitted to the burglary, as well as several others over recent months.

Both Corigiliano and Cooper were arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Last month, Corigiliano was served an arrest warrant for burglary, larceny and criminal mischief, dating back to a different burglary. He is currently being held in lieu of $30,000 bond.

Police said that Corigiliano is expected to face additional charges as the investigation continues. It is believed that he may be responsible for nearly a dozen burglaries in Trumbull. Check Daily Voice for updates.
