The incident began at 4:45 p.m. Sunday when Darien officers responded to a Post Road home on a report of an unknown person in the residence, police said.
The teen had knocked on the front door, which was answered by a 10-year-old resident, and gone inside, police said. The juvenile, who was making incoherent statements and sweating profusely, appeared to be under the influence of a substance, police said.
The 10-year-old left the house and called his parents, who in turn called their 17-year-old son who was inside the home and unaware of the incident, police said.
The 17-year-old then confronted the juvenile, who struck him during a physical altercation, police said. The 17-year-old resident then left the home to await the arrival of his parents, police said. When they got home, the adult male entered the home and confronted the juvenile, police said.
He became aggressive and attempted to attack the man, who left the house and called police.
Officers arrived, entered the house and confronted the teen, who immediately became aggressive, police said. He refused to comply with officers and was physically taken into custody, police said.
The teenager struggled, causing minor injuries to two officers, who did not need transport to the hospital, police said.
Post 53 responded to transport the suspect to Stamford Hospital. The teenager was continuing to be aggressive, so an officer went along in the ambulance, police said.
During the transport, the teenager broke free of his restraints several times and the Officer had to resecure the leg restraints repeatedly, police said.
During one outburst, the juvenile kicked a Post 53 member in the face, injuring his face and nose, police said. The Post 53 member was treated at the Stamford Emergency Department.
The suspect was kept under guard of two officers while he was treated by Stamford Emergency Department staff, police said.
After being treated over a period of time, the juvenile appeared to no longer be under the influence of intoxicants. At this point, a Darien Police youth detective met with both the juvenile and his parents.
He was charged with risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault, third-degree criminal attempt to assault, three counts of assault on public safety personnel, second-degree burglary and interfering with an officer.
The juvenile was released to his parents and given a court date of July 18 at Stamford Juvenile Court.
