RIDGEFIELD, Conn. A town grieves with Brian Schiavettis family after he was shot and killed in Montclair, N.J., on Sunday night.
Schiavetti was scheduled to begin his senior year at Villanova University in Pennsylvania this fall, and his school mates reached out on Twitter to share in their grief.
One message from Keegan Einspanier said, RIP Brian Schiavetti didnt know you but were all a family #novanation."
A lot of time, effort, and love goes into raising a child. I live in Montclair a street away. I walk my dog by the building that took your son. Something went very wrong and I am so sorry, Diane/family for your loss, said Kristen Petterson, a Montclair resident, in an email to The Daily Voice.
My thoughts and prayers go out to my hometown, Brian, and the Schiavetti family today. R.I.P Bri #toomanytooyoung, Liv Cheung wrote on Twitter.
Still others sent condolences to the Schiavetti family via Twitter. Michael Galas tweeted that Schiavetti would be missed at Villanova.
Schiavetti was shot and killed by an unknown shooter at 6:40 p.m. Sunday in an apartment building in Montclair. Reports say that police pronounced him dead on scene with several gunshot wounds.
The family will hold a private interment on Thursday, July 26, at St. Mary Parish Center at 10:15 a.m. The family will recieve in St. Mary Parish Center on Wednesday, July 25, from 4 to 8 p.m.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there was no new information about the case. The Montclair Police Department said the investigation was being handled completely by the Essex County Prosecutors Office. No new information was available through the prosecutor's office.
