Police responded to the intersection of Danbury Road and Westport Road for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Police said that when officers arrived, they saw that the driver of one of the cars involved in the accident was possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police administered a field sobriety test to the driver, 47-year-old Michelle Cota of Ridgefield, which she failed, police said. She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, following too closely, driving without a license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Cota submitted to a breath test back at headquarters that showed her BAC was 0.2167, police said. She told officers that she was on her way home to Ridgefield after having lunch at the Little PUb in Wilton, and said that she had only had one Bloody Mary while she was at the Little Pub, according to police.

She was released on a $250 bond and will appear in court on July 24.
